A Great Restaurant That's Closer than You Think
There’s a new restaurant in town. It serves some of the best food New York can offer cooked by the likes of Traci des Jardins and Dan Kluger. Are you waiting for me to tell you where this little gem is located? Well look no further than your very own kitchen.
The answer lies in Kitchit, a website that offers a customized way of eating. A way for chefs to come to you. Started out west in San Francisco, the site came to be when three students going to Stanford got together and realized that the best of both worlds, the expertise of the experienced chefs and eating in the comfort of your home, could be combined. As cofounder and CEO Brendan Marshall puts it, "Chefs are people that have a real passion for food, a passion for being creative, have a passion for throwing these dinner parties, and people love that. So we connect them."
And connect them they did. Along with Ian Ferguson and George Tang, the three began reaching out to top chefs to see if they would be interested getting out of the restaurant and into people’s private homes. Two cities later, the site had garnered much attention, plenty of top chefs, and many happy eaters.
...the best of both worlds, the expertise of the experienced chefs and eating in the comfort of your home, could be combined.
Now it’s New York’s turn.
Want to have an Iron Chef or Top Chef-esque experience in your home? Simply visit Kitchit.com and sign up so that you can view all that they have to offer. You can begin by browsing the available chefs or search by party type or price. After you have an idea of what you want, submit an inquiry and you will be connected with a chef that meets your needs with whom you will start planning your menu, dinner, or event. And this doesn’t just include food. Depending on your dinner, you can assign waiters, bartenders, floral arrangements and more with prices ranging between $25 to $200 person. Then invite your guests. The day of your event, the chef will arrive at your location, cook, and prepare your meal. All you need is a kitchen with a heat source and the chef will do the rest.
And don’t be afraid to hop into the restaurant that is now happening right in front of you. Because for the night, it’s your restaurant. Want to learn how the chef is cooking that particular pasta dish? Ask them to show you. Want to know why they are chopping that vegetable a certain way? You heard me, ask them.
